چکیده

In this paper the effect of various chemical treatments on the damping property of jute fiber reinforced green composite is discussed. The surface of the jute fiber was modified by alkali, permanganate, benzoyl chloride, malic anhydride and silane treatments. Several samples of unidirectional composites were prepared with treated jute fibers as well as untreated jute fibers. Matrix used is epoxy and material is made by hot pressing. Surface treatments results in enhancement of bonding between fiber and matrix. Dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) results show that, surface treated jute fiber reinforced polymer composites have higher storage modulus and lower tanδ with respect to untreated composite.

A mild alkali treated jute fibre controlling the hydration behaviour of greener cement paste

To reduce the antagonistic effect of jute fibre on the setting and hydration of jute reinforced cement, modified jute fibre reinforcement would be a unique approach. The present investigation deals with the effectiveness of mild alkali treated (0.5%) jute fibre on the setting and hydration behaviour of cement. Setting time measurement, hydration test and analytical characterizations of the hard...

Mechanical and Impact Properties of Untreated Jute Fabric Reinforced Polyester Laminates Compared with Different E- Glass Fibre Reinforced Laminates

In recent years, the improvement of properties of natural fibre reinforced laminates over the pure polymeric matrix has been thoroughly investigated with the aim of providing a possible replacement of E-glass fibre reinforced composites for some large-volume applications. In the present study, the properties of a jute/polyester laminate are compared with those yielded by two E-glass fibre woven...

Bi-layer Hybrid Biocomposites: Chemical Resistant and Physical Properties

Bi-layer hybrid biocomposites were fabricated by hand lay-up technique by reinforcing oil palm empty fruit bunch (EFB) and jute fibre mats with epoxy matrix. Hybrid composites were prepared by varying the relative weight fraction of the two fibres. The physical (void content, density, dimensional stability), and chemical resistant properties of hybrid composites were evaluated. When the jute fi...

Effect of surface treatments on damping behavior of carbon and glass fiber reinforced friction material

The ability to absorb vibrations in a vehicle during braking conditions depends primarily on the selection of ingredients for a friction material and interfacial adhesion between all these ingredients.  In this work, a hybrid brake friction material is developed by combination of carbon fiber (CF), glass fiber (GF), resin and other ingredients. The surfaces of carbon and glass fibers are c...
